We take seriously God's mandate to care for the widows and orphans (James 1:27) and have focused our efforts on Haiti.

In 2007, Southside Church began a school in Mirebalais, Haiti.

Haiti is the poorest country in the western hemisphere with 80% of its 10 million people living on less than 2 dollars a day. Our Free School Project allows the poorest children to attend a Christ-centered school and receive a free daily hot meal. Education is crucial to breaking the cycle of poverty in a community, and Southside's Free School Project is doing just that.

The Free School has also facilitated professional health-care for the students and their families (dentists, doctors and optometrists) and we've recently built a cistern to provide the school with rain water for better sanitation.

The Free School began with 30 students in 2007. Last year saw more than 535 students in attendance and June 2019 marks our first graduating class. The most promising students will enter our post-secondary scholarship program.

Southside's Free School has been instrumental in transforming the lives of our students and their families and providing them hope for a better future.
